Holiday Decor

It’s officially Christmas time in the city! Following the day after Thanksgiving, the ENTIRE city has hints of Christmas everywhere you turn.  It really is the most magical time of the year.  Our Pure Barre locations are smack dab in the center of everything – Columbus Circle, Union Square, walking distance from Rockefellar Center…I’m lucky enough to pass through the pop-up Christmas Villages every day or even take a stroll past the Plaza and 5th avenue stores on my walk from the Subway.  With that being said, after 8 years of living in NYC I’m feeling the touristy stuff a little bit less, and feeling the staying at home stuff a little bit more (yeah, I’m getting old).  This is a year of firsts, and to add to the list it’s Tommy and I’s first Christmas living together! Big things, people.  I knew that I wanted to grab a bunch of Christmas decor to keep our cozy feel flowing through the Winter.  Now, if it was up to me, all of our decor would be silver, white, and gold.  That’s it.  Haha.  I just love that clean and classic look for holidays.  However, Tommy is Mr. Traditional, so to compromise (I AM SO NICE!) I promised I would throw in that pop of dark red to my mix of silver and gold.  Hey, Tommy pays rent too, he doesn’t need to be living in a chick bomb.  The black and white reindeer pillows, pop of plaid, lots of candles and faux fur give us that traditional yet kinda glam holiday vibe to satisfy us both!  I’ve got a few more holiday decor tricks up my sleeve, but for now check out my first part of Holiday Decor!

Cute little kitchen accents with a faux birch tree and a “Get Your Jingle On” sign.

Throwing colored ornaments into a bowl is a cheap and easy way to add some Christmas flair.

I have been looking for the right tray to go with our coffee table for so long.  After months of searching but getting nowhere, I finally just ordered this silver tray from Amazon and called it a day.  I actually love it, but of course right after I ordered it nearly every store I went into had fabulous trays all of a sudden! Oh well, this tray was cheeeeap, and it does the trick for my potpourri and tons of candles I bought at World Market 😉  I think it’s a really beautiful way to accent my coffee table!

Another addition for me – faux fur.  When I first proposed faux fur to Tommy, he was not having it.  Well, sure enough only one night into snuggling on the couch I’m hearing “good call on this blanket!”.  This is going to result in me not even consulting him in the future.  Lol.

Ummm, somebody can’t take his eyes away from the TV when I’m trying to take pictures! (football) Another thing we took SO long to decide on was wall art.  Here’s the thing, originally I wanted all gray everything in the living room with just a pop of crazy color on the wall.  What has happened since is us deciding to switch things around in the apartment seasonally, so for now this neutral birch wall art from Pier 1 will hold us over for the Winter months and our holiday decor.  I have to admit I’m not obsessed with it, so come Spring I may take on another kind of wall project, maybe a gallery wall or something of the sort.  We’ll see!

holiday decorIn keeping with the pop of red, I stuck some ornaments into the wall sconces instead of candles and grabbed some seasonal throw blankets.  The plaid blanket was actually meant to be a picnic blanket in Central Park this fall, but sadly the picnic never happened!

Still waiting on some things in the mail (someone please steal my credit card from me – I actually am switching out the gray pillows for silver haaaa big difference), but our decor is coming along!

What’s your guys take on holiday decor? Classic? Traditional?

Have a great weekend!
