One of the amazing things about my flexible schedule is that I get to frequent mid-week lunches often. What’s even better is that most of my closest friends have the same flexibility in their schedule, as they work in hospitals, real estate, etc. Therefore, mid-day Wednesday lunches with my girls are not just a treat, they are recurring! It’s so fun to be able to check out some of the city’s cutest eateries at off-peak times. Although I guess in NYC, off-peak doesn’t even exist. Just because it’s a Wednesday at 2pm doesn’t mean there is no wait for a table.
One of the spots in NYC that I go to with my girlfriends the most is The Butcher’s Daughter. This adorable little cafe can be found in Soho, and while the interior is adorable, seating is tight..so it’s best to wait until the weather heats up to get a table outside to enjoy some fresh air.
The Butcher’s Daughter is a 100% vegetarian, non-dairy cafe that is known for their fresh squeezed juices and their “vegetable slaughter house” concept. The vegetables are super fresh and the produce is purchased from local farmers, which I love. More often than not, my friends and I choose a few meal options to share, so we get to have a few bites of everything. My favorites are the avocado toast with cilantro and mustard seed, the cauliflower “grits” and the Mediterranean salad.
While the food is yummy, its really the decor and character of the place that keeps me coming back. Earthy and rustic, mixed in with industrial accents make this place so beautiful and welcoming.
Does this place have knock-your-socks-off food? Nah, wouldn’t go that far. Does it offer a cozy and welcoming atmosphere that makes for a perfect hour of catching up with friends? Absolutely. This cafe is worth checking out, if you ask me! It’s also super, super affordable. See the menu and concept for yourself!
Have a great Wednesday!
